Development & Choreography: Yasmeen Godder
Mousonturm, Frankfurt am Main — July 8–12, 2021
Practicing Empathy #2by2 is a non-verbal, one-on-one performance in which eight dancers each meet a single audience member in a separate studio space. Part of the Practicing Empathy series choreographer Yasmeen Godder began in 2019, this iteration responds to the conditions of the 2021 lockdowns, asking how intimacy and emotional connection can be established across distance and within the period’s hygiene and distancing rules. Running approximately 25 minutes, the Frankfurt production brought together dancers from the Rhine-Main area at Künstlerhaus Mousonturm, staged as part of the Tanzplattform Rhein-Main initiative and co-produced with Tanzhaus nrw Düsseldorf, with support from the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung.
